Tower Vertical Lift

Storage and retrieval of a wide range of heavy items and large size materials

Bar lengths to 6.0M, Sheet to 4.0 x 2.0M
Jigs, tools, and awkward shapes

Loads to 6,000Kg per cassette

Automated Storage & Handling

The Schwab Tower is individually configured to the needs Of the client in height, width, depth and loading; sp long as they remain economical, in essence there are few boundaries to the design and supply of the Tower.

Tower is a vertical storage and handling system designed to tackle the heavy, "awkward and ugly" materials end of manufacturing and distribution; making more floor space available by utilising the buildings headroom to the maximum - which results in a space saving of some 80% compared to cantilever and other rack based systems - making storing, and of course retrieving products, a safe and easy by comparison.

The product version shown below has a picking cradle set in the centre of the machine and selects cassettes from the vertical frames on both sides

Cassette delivered to the front of the unit.

Bar storage, 6.0M length 5,000Kg cassette load
Billet storage.

Multiple Frames

Where a larger quantity of product is to be stored the Tower can be s configured with a variable number of frames to achieve the volumes required, there are two versions of this principle:

Two units backing on to each other in a fast moving production environment.

Lateral exits

There are also versions of multiple frames units reaching back into a warehouse, using a single cradle sitting on top of the machine and guided on rails to allow the picking cradle to access all storage locations, then descending into any aisle, picking the cassette required, rising back to the top of the unit and transferring to the output station at either front, rear or side exits.

All versions of Tower can present cassettes to one or more work stations.

Fully clad machine options for dust reduction, preventing light penetration for any light sensitive products, they can also be heated or chilled.

Cassettes

Cassettes are manufactured to a required size or configuration to store a wide variety of materials including sheet, bar, tools, jigs, fixtures, drums, castings and moulds, etc.

Bar, and other long goods profiles in varying widths, and depths to suit the bundles.

Sheet to store standard sizes up to 4.0M wide x 2.0M depth with other products designed according to the required sizes and weights.

Workflow design can be incorporated to achieve criteria such as reducing material handling functions and improving safety by automatic presentation of the goods to an operator work station.

Cassettes can be delivered automatically to work areas away from the Tower, routing them through the front, either side or the rear of the unit or all of these combinations for feeding production or the goods-in area for loading directly from outside the building.

For example, a cassette can be positioned in front of goods-in doors allowing a delivery vehicle to be unloaded outside, with the use of a forklift or crane, and stock placed directly into the cassette eliminating movement through the building.

A truly flexible storage and retrieval system with many possibilities to suit your requirements

Access bay with perimeter guarding

Anti intrusion light curtain barriers are also be used

Sides are clad to part height

External Installation

Tower can be installed on the outside of buildings, through the roof and basement to gain valuable additional storage capacity, all these are possible with the hugely configurable design where applications can be made to measure to fit the products and the building as well as the operational requirements.

Machines can be installed to provide access from outside of the building allowing deliveries to be taken from the vehicle and placed directly into the Tower without internal handling and disruption, leaving the items stored available for access inside the building.

Controls

Operators, using the controller or in conjunction with a PC and software for stand alone or network linked communications, call for the cassette, or using a PC the product part number or order lists to bring the cassettes to the selected work station and operator to access.

Simple call for cassette keypad

Keypad and Network linked to an MRP / ERP system

PC Screen showing inventory information
